Frozen embryo transfer (FET)
At Cryos IVF Clinic, we offer frozen embryo transfer (FET) as a flexible and effective option for patients in IVF treatment.
Frozen embryo transfers can be just as successful as using fresh embryos. Learn when this option can be relevant and how it works here.
What is a frozen embryo transfer?
Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) is a process where previously frozen embryos obtained and cryopreserved in an IVF treatment are thawed and transferred into the uterus. This approach allows the woman to avoid going through the whole IVF process again if she wants siblings or if the original cycle was unsuccessful. FET is a safe and effective method that has similar chances of conception as a fresh embryo transfer.

When is frozen embryo transfer relevant?
Frozen embryos can be transferred at the ideal time without the pressure of a fresh cycle. This can be relevant for:
- Patients who have specific medical indications to avoid a fresh embryo transfer
- Patients who have frozen embryos stored from a previous IVF treatment cycle
- Patients who choose embryo creation with donor eggs at Cryos Clinic in Denmark and would like the transfer to take place at Cryos IVF Clinic in Cyprus.
Frozen embryo transfer – the process
The process starts when you contact us to arrange the frozen embryo transfer. The following steps are:
- Preparing the uterus
Days before the transfer, the uterine lining is prepared to create the optimal environment for implantation. This can be done in a natural cycle or with hormonal medications to regulate the endometrial thickness. - Embryo thawing
The frozen embryos are carefully thawed using advanced techniques to ensure their viability. Thanks to the vitrification technique, modern freezing methods achieve high embryo survival rates. - Embryo transfer
Once the uterus and the embryo are ready, the selected embryo is placed into the uterus using a catheter guided by a fertility doctor. The procedure is painless and does not require anesthesia.
- Preparing the uterus
After your frozen embryo transfer
Two weeks after the embryo transfer, you should have a pregnancy blood test to see if the treatment was successful.
What is the cost of a frozen embryo transfer?
The price for one frozen embryo transfer is €1,250. You can also choose to have only part of your treatment at Cryos IVF Clinic at a lower price. Learn more about our pricing here.
