Frozen embryo transfer (FET)

At Cryos IVF Clinic, we offer frozen embryo transfer (FET) as a flexible and effective option for patients in IVF treatment.

Frozen embryo transfers can be just as successful as using fresh embryos. Learn when this option can be relevant and how it works here.

What is a frozen embryo transfer?

Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) is a process where previously frozen embryos obtained and cryopreserved in an IVF treatment are thawed and transferred into the uterus. This approach allows the woman to avoid going through the whole IVF process again if she wants siblings or if the original cycle was unsuccessful. FET is a safe and effective method that has similar chances of conception as a fresh embryo transfer.

Frozen embryo transfer – the process

The process starts when you contact us to arrange the frozen embryo transfer. The following steps are:

    1. Preparing the uterus
Days before the transfer, the uterine lining is prepared to create the optimal environment for implantation. This can be done in a natural cycle or with hormonal medications to regulate the endometrial thickness.

    2. Embryo thawing
The frozen embryos are carefully thawed using advanced techniques to ensure their viability. Thanks to the vitrification technique, modern freezing methods achieve high embryo survival rates.

    3. Embryo transfer
Once the uterus and the embryo are ready, the selected embryo is placed into the uterus using a catheter guided by a fertility doctor. The procedure is painless and does not require anesthesia.
